It’s been nearly two years since Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), retired in December of 2022. This came after he helped lead the nation through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many believe that Fauci lied to the American people for years when it came to the effectiveness of his infamous COVID-19 protocols. This has caused him to become a controversial figure in the years since.
Those who are wary of Fauci will undoubtedly be livid to learn that he received $15,000,000 in taxpayer-funded security services. Making matters worse, this came AFTER Fauci retired!
This was uncovered by the government watchdog organization Open The Books. The group found that the services were provided between January 4, 2023, and September 20, 2024.
The watchdog organization found the evidence of this in a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the U.S. Marshals service and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) via a Freedom of Information Act request.

Open the Books’ Deputy Policy Editor Amber Todoroff and The Dossier investigative journalist Jordan Schachtel reported that money covered “Salaries and benefits for deputies and administrative personnel assigned to Fauci’s protective detail; costs related to transporting Fauci, and law enforcement equipment.”The MOU acknowledged that there was a possibility that the contract could be extended.
“From 2019 to 2022 he was the highest paid federal employee,” Todoroff and Schachtel noted, adding, “Fauci retired from the federal bureaucracy with a record $480,654 salary. In 2022 Open the Books estimated his pension would be about $355,000 per year, adding to the considerable fortune of $11 million amassed over his 54 years of government service. We could find no other cases of a former federal employee receiving this level of protection.”
This is nothing short of horrifying. Why should taxpayers be on the hook to pay this much for security for a retired government official like Fauci?!
Fauci Sounds Off
This comes after Fauci called on people to stop blaming public officials for the mistakes that were made during the pandemic. How convenient for him that would be!
In April of 2023, Fauci was asked what he “got wrong” during the pandemic. He replied, “I think we have to get away from the blame game because so many of the things that you have mentioned were unknowns at the time. It’s so easy.”
“This is really big time Monday morning quarterbacking here, which is what it is,” he claimed. “So, rather than have a blame game, and that’s one of the things that we have to stay away from because there were things that happened and it was a moving target and there were things that you did not know at the time and you had to, out of necessity, make a decision.”
If American taxpayers are paying for your $15 million security, Dr. Fauci, we have every right to play the “blame game” with you all that we want! You may have been able to shut down the country with your ridiculous policies back in 2020, but you certainly won’t be able to shut us up now that we’re finally holding you accountable.
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to be one of the darkest times in American history. This is largely because of the policies that Fauci put in place. The hefty price that American taxpayers are paying for Fauci’s security serves as a reminder that we can never allow anything like this to happen again.
